Lauren La Porte

My name is Lauren, and I am an undergraduate Marine Biology student at Dalhousie University. I have been volunteering with the FOME lab, working with Dr. Kristina Boerder to conduct Blue Carbon research. More specifically, we have been investigating carbon sequestration in eelgrass beds in Owl’s Head Provincial Park. In the future, I hope to study the benefits of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in mitigating the impacts of climate change and overfishing on marine ecosystems, in addition to exploring the diversity of life in the deep sea.
