Emma Taniguchi

She/Her
MSc. Candidate

Emma is a master’s student currently pursuing her thesis in partnership with the FOME lab investigating blue carbon sequestration in eelgrass meadows! Her research uses a combination of seafloor mapping and sediment geochemistry to determine the age, content, and source of the carbon within sediments. Using Owl’s Head as her study site, she is investigating whether Central North Atlantic eelgrass meadows are as adept at sequestering carbon as the high numbers reported from equatorial and sub-tropical regions.
